Under pressure, Instagram removed PornHub's account

Due to pressure from campaigners, Instagram has removed the official account of PornHub. According to the news published in Variety, before its removal, PornHub's Instagram account had 131 million followers and 6200 posts.

Through the 'safe-for-work' content, various videos and presenters were promoted from that account. Twitter and other popular social networks, including Twitter, are still operating PornHub accounts.

Also, Meta, the parent company of Instagram, has not revealed a clear reason for the account's removal. However, in the screenshot shared by Laila McElvete, an activist against PornHub, it is mentioned that the account was closed due to breaking Instagram's community guidelines.

McKellwaite is the founder of TraffickingHub, an advocacy campaign that seeks to shut down porn hubs and hold company executives responsible and accountable against the exploitation of rape, child sexual abuse, sex trafficking and sexual violence-based images and videos.

However, it is said that the group including McKellwaite is about to end the sex business itself. In view of the growing criticism, PornHub has started removing the content of unverified and unauthorized users and is also removing the feature to download any video.
